Densitometría Ósea por Fotón Dual y por Ultrasonido, Conclusión

  • La técnica de ultrasonido es útil para evaluar la densidad ósea.
  • Al comparar esta técnica con el “patrón de oro” que es la técnica de fotón dual, se encontró que la correlación es directa y estadísticamente significativa, aunque con coeficientes de correlación moderados.
  • La correlación es mas fuerte cuando se comparan los valores del ultrasonido con los valores de DMO del fémur que cuando se compara con los de la columna.
  • De las variables del ultrasonido, el índice de Stiffness es el que muestra correlaciones más fuertes con la DMO de fotón dual.
  • La DMO solo explica de manera parcial los valores de las variables que mide el ultrasonido del calcáneo. Por lo tanto se requieren de nuevas investigaciones que aclaren el papel de otras variables en relación con la arquitectura y estructura ósea que expliquen los resultados de las mediciones de la DUC.
